Finally I'm gong back HOME. Haven't been there for 3 years. And Finally I'm going to make this film I've always wanted to. The film A Letter From Faraway (working title) is a piece about the history of my family who have been suffered from a loss of a family member due to the historical circumstance between North and South Korea. The film shows the emotional state of human nature and how people deal with their loss and pain as time passes by. AND MORE...

Each of our members in Novaluz is making their own concepts and directing each parts for the music video. We have stop-motion, found footage collages, low-key live action and b-roll documentary style put together. Will be published later this month!

In the summer of 2009, I traveled to my birthplace Jeddah (Arabic for 'Grandmother'), Saudi Arabia, Cairo, and London after a long absence. These cities have served as the meeting places for my sister and I with our father, brother, grandfather, and extended family. After an eight year absence returning to Jeddah, KSA was a reunification with my family, my grandmother's memory, my heritage, and my childhood. I wanted to document everything with new eyes. Much has changed and yet so much remains the same. This project is a work in progress, addressing my past and themes of separation, displacement, loss, reunification, duality, and the memory of space and time. I hope to actively travel to Saudi Arabia and London in the future and continue to document the cities and my family.

As now, we have Natalia Serna (Musician), Caroline Voagen Nelson (Photographer), Eman Nader (Filmmaker/writer) and myself working together.
